School Songs

He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

Background

Over the years that I have served as pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, I have written songs for the yearly theme for our school, St. John's Lutheran School.  Most of these songs are intentionally simple so that they can be learned by the school children relatively quickly, then sung throughout the year at School Chapels in order to reinforce the faith.

Songs

Based on Matthew 5:9, this song celebrates being a peacemaker in the home, school, church and world.

Having been blessed by Christ, we are called to be a blessing to others.

The power of the name of Jesus transforms us more and more into His image.

Based on Psalm 145, a celebration of God's goodness, compassion, grace and works

Jesus calls us to be "fishers of men."

We remember what God has done for us.

A commitment to friendship no matter may come

We are living stones with Christ as our foundation

In our troubles and weaknesses, the Lord lifts us up on eagle's wings.

We are the work of His hands - His hands in creation, and His hands on the cross.

In a world of constant change we trust in Christ who never changes.

Jesus leads us into mission, just as he led Peter, Andrew, James, John, and Matthew
