The Venite (Oh Come) is an ancient hymn
of the church, based on Psalm. This song of invitation to worship
and praise is associate with the Matins or Morning Prayer
worship, going back to monastic times. Using the words Psalm 95, the
church is invited to come into the presence of God to worship Him.
God the creator is our God who holds us in the palm of His hand as his
people.
In this upbeat contemporary rendition, the
invitation to worship has become a repeating chorus, "Oh Come let us
worship." The Gloria Patri, (Glory be to the Father, etc.),
appended to Psalm 95 as part of the Venite, has been incorporated
into the text of the verse. The God into whose presence we come to
worship is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Verse 1
Come let us sing
unto the Lord
Let us make a joyful noise
To the rock of our salvation
Come into His presence with thanksgiving
Let us make a joyful noise to Him
With songs of praise
For the Lord is a great God
And a great King above all gods
In His hands are the depths of the earth
The heights of the mountains are His
The sea is His for He made it Himself
And His right hand formed the dry land
Chorus
Oh come let us worship Oh come let us worship
Oh come let us worship
Oh come let us worship the Lord
Verse 2
Come let us
worship and bow down
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker
For He, He alone is our God
And we are His people
The sheep of His hand
Glory be to the Father
Glory be to the Son
Glory be to the Spirit
Glory to the three in One
As it was in the beginning
Is now and ever shall be
Chorus
Oh come let us worship
Oh come let us worship
Oh come let us worship
Oh come let us worship the Lord Oh come let us worship
Oh come let us worship
Oh come let us worship Oh come let us worship
Oh come let us worship the Lord
