Songs for Worship

Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.  Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.

Psalm 33:1-3 (NIV)

We Are Chosen

As the people of God, we can take comfort and enouragement from the fact that we have been chosen by God.  But we are chosen not just to receive grace.  We are chosen to be the representatives of Christ in the world, sharing His grace with others.  This song is based on 1 Peter 2:8-9, where Peter ties our identity to the task of declaring God's praises.

This song was the theme song for the 2013-2014 school year for St. John's Lutheran School in Napa, CA.  The theme verse for the school year was 1 Peter 2:8-9

Chosen, Grace of God, Mission, Election

We are chosen
A Royal Priesthood, Holy Nation, People of God
We are chosen
Out of darkness into Your great light
So we will proclaim
Living to praise Your name
Showing Your love to all the world
We are chosen

Verse 1
You’ve chosen us
By Your mercy and grace
You’ve chosen us
All our sins washed away
For You died for us
You rose up from the grave
To make us the people of God

Verse 2
You’ve chosen us
To be sent to the world
You’ve chosen us
To be a blessing of love
For we are Your voice
We are Your hands and feet
Living Your love for all the world
