Jesus is the vine and we are the branches.
This simple yet powerful image so aptly describes the nature of the
Christian life. Fruitfulness is the result of remaining in the
vine. When we face trials, we are called to see in them the love,
pruning of the gardener, preparing us for greater fruitfulness.
This image of the vine and the branches rests
especially close to home here in the Napa Valley where we are never too
far from the sight of a vineyard. Just as the local economy
thrives on the fruitfulness of these vines, so also the life of those
who call themselves disciples hinges on the fruit Christ, our Vine,
works in us.
