Background
God’s strength is our comfort and power in times of trouble. The beautiful close to the 40th chapter of Isaiah (40:28-31) depicts the strength of the Lord for his people. When we feel our weakness, when the troubles of this world are weighing on us, we rely on the Lord who lifts us on eagles wings. The same Lord who suffered and died and rose again for us will sustain and strengthen us for every trial.
This song was written for the 1998 graduating class of St. John’s Lutheran School in Napa, CA. Since then it has become the “school song,” marking important events in the school year. As such, it is the title track for the recording of the songs written for St. John’s Lutheran School.
