We have peace with God because of the work of Jesus Christ.  Now we are called to share that peace with others as peacemakers in the name of Jesus.  By making peace, we show ourselves to be true “sons” of God, as reflected in Jesus’ blessing in the Beatitudes.

This song is a prayer that we show ourselves to be God’s children by seeking bring peace.  Too often the church and the faith community is filled with discord and petty selfishness.  This is entirely out of place for the people who call themselves by Christ’s name.  We are to be peacemakers, even as our Savior has made peace with us on the cross.

This song was the theme song for St. John’s Lutheran School for the year 2004-2005.  The school’s theme is “Blessed are the peacemakers” as part of an emphasis on peacemaking.
